Green fight spells have always priced the whole card on the fight: you pay for a creature to trade blows, and the rate reflects nothing but that combat. What sets this one apart is that the fight is only one of three modes, and the other two are Saga manipulation that has almost nothing to do with combat. Removing a lore counter rewinds a Saga a chapter, and the reminder text is load-bearing here: the removal explicitly does not trigger chapter abilities, so you extend a Saga's life on the battlefield without re-firing anything, keeping a lingering enchantment around for a final chapter or looping a static effect. Adding a lore counter runs the other way, pushing a Saga toward its payoff faster than the normal cadence of one counter per precombat main phase. Because the mode header reads "choose one or more," a single casting can fight a creature and adjust a Saga's timeline in the same breath, provided the targets exist. The result is a card sold at one price but split across two audiences: a one-mana removal effect that most decks will run purely as a fight spell, welded to a Saga-tempo lever that only a narrow build will ever touch. The fight pays the rent; the counter modes sit unused until a deck arrives that treats Saga chapters as a resource worth spending mana to bend.
