Chainweb Aracnir
A one-mana Spider that hides an anti-flying kill switch: the enter trigger deals damage equal to its power to a flier an opponent controls, which off the base 1/2 is a modest one-point ping but off the escaped body lands as a four-point shot. That is the design pivot. Cast for a single green, it is a reach blocker that trades into small evasive threats and dies unremarkably. Recast from the graveyard for its escape cost, the same card returns with three +1/+1 counters as a 4/5, and because the trigger keys off power, the enlarged body now sends four damage at a flier: a two-stage card whose removal grows because the card itself grew. The hate is deliberately conditional. The trigger only reaches an opponent's flier, so against a ground-based board the enter effect whiffs entirely, and the escape mode taxes you the four exiled cards its escape cost demands. The counters are the mechanism that ties the two modes together: they inflate power on the return, and power is what feeds the damage, so the ceiling on the recursion and the ceiling on the removal rise in lockstep. Escape as a mechanic asked designers to price a graveyard-cast alongside its hardcast, and this is one of the cleaner answers to that puzzle: a cheap early speed bump that graduates into a self-sizing removal engine once the yard fills.
