A 1/1 that wears its expansion on the outside: the kickers cost red and green, the two colors blue is built to oppose, and paying them welds power onto a body blue could never carry alone. Pay the red kicker for two +1/+1 counters and first strike; pay the green kicker for one counter and trample; pay both, and a four-power first striker with trample resolves in a single casting. The cleverness is structural. The two kickers are not modal, where choosing one mode forecloses the other, but additive: each payment stacks its own counters and its own keyword independently, so the body scales smoothly with however much enemy-color mana you can muster. That makes it a mana sink whose ceiling rises directly with how committed your shell is to the colors on either flank of blue's allies, which is precisely the deckbuilding behavior a three-color wedge design wanted to coax out of players. It encodes the thesis cleanly: a blue creature, with red and green optionally bolted on, all settled in one cast, paying off the player who builds toward the colors blue is told to fight rather than away from them.
