Cephalid Pathmage

Creature — Octopus Wizard2 generic manaBlue mana

Built for one job and honest about it: this is a body that exists to manufacture a single unblocked attack, then gets out of the way. The 1/2 frame is deliberately disposable. It cannot meaningfully block, it slips through for a point on its own thanks to its evasion, and when the moment comes it taps and sacrifices itself to hand unblockable to whichever creature actually needs to connect. That sacrifice clause is an activated ability, not an engine: you pay tap and the creature itself, once, to clear a single attacker's path for the turn. The cost structure is the whole transaction. There is no recurring lord here, no aura that sticks around to be answered, just a one-time conversion of a small body into a guaranteed swing. It belongs to the Cephalid wizard line that leans on combat tricks and mill, and it reads more as redundancy for a deck that wants a damage-dependent finisher to land than as a card with much life outside that plan. The redundancy is the point: while it waits, it provides a small clock of its own; when called on, it cashes itself in to make sure the creature that matters gets through. Clean, narrow, and exactly as deep as it looks.
