Cenn's Enlistment
Retrace is what turns a forgettable token-maker into a recurring resource, and this card is the clean case study. Two 1/1s for four mana is a rate no one plays for its own sake; the spell only earns its keep because every excess land in your hand is a second, third, fourth casting waiting to happen. The graveyard becomes a holding pen for the spell, and your flooded draws become Kithkin instead of dead cards. That is the trade the mechanic makes: it converts the late-game land surplus that usually rots in hand into a slow, grinding board presence, paying you back precisely when an aggressive deck would otherwise be running on empty. The discard cost is the governor on the loop. You can only recast as often as you can feed it lands, so the card scales with how badly you have flooded rather than letting you machine-gun tokens for free. Functionally it sits in the lineage of white's go-wide token engines, but where most of those are one-shot widening or anthem support, this one answers a question those cards never bother with: what a deck does with its surplus lands once the curve has been spent. It rewards a build that wants a steady drip of bodies for convoke, sacrifice fodder, or simply chump blockers, and it does so without ever asking for a card you would rather have kept.
