Catastrophe

Sorcery4 generic manaWhite manaWhite mana

The choice itself is the design. Where Armageddon and Wrath of God each commit to one kind of reset, this folds both onto a single card and hands the controller the decision at cast time, reading the board before deciding which half the table loses. That flexibility is what the six-mana cost is paying for: you wait, you assess, and you pick the symmetrical sweep that hurts your opponent more than it hurts you. The land-destruction mode is the meaner half, since white's land sweepers have always been rationed carefully, and the regeneration clause on the creature mode quietly closes the door on the green and black decks built to shrug off board wipes. Two of white's most feared effects sharing one sorcery means you rarely needed both modes in a single game, only the right one for the moment, which is exactly why a control deck could justify the slot. The card is a statement about what white was allowed to do at its peak: not just answer the board, but reset the entire game state on whichever axis was losing, and pay a premium for the privilege of choosing late.
