Two rewards bolted onto one Human Detective, and the design puzzle is how tightly they interlock. The color-fixing clause exists to make the mana-value-scaled Case spells castable in a deck that would otherwise struggle to hit their off-color taxes, which is the quiet part: this is a card built to grease an entire subtheme, not just to serve itself. But the marquee ability is the enchantment dig, a repeatable top-six selection that fires on entry and again every time you solve a Case. The body is doing deliberate work here too. A 1/4 is priced to survive the ground stalls and grindy midrange boards where a slow value engine wants to sit, not to trade in combat. What keeps the digging honest is the miss risk: you see six cards and take at most one enchantment, and the rest scatter to the bottom in random order, so the payoff is real but bounded and the engine only spins as fast as your Case count lets it. The interlock is the whole point: the fixing enables the Cases, the Cases power the dig, the dig refills toward more enchantments and more Cases. It is a rare thing in white, an intentional card-advantage motor gated behind a mechanic rather than a flat draw, and its ceiling is a function of how many Cases surround it rather than anything printed on its own line.
