The 2/1 body for is a receipt for the trigger, not a plan for combat, and the trigger is a Charm stapled to a creature: three modes, pick one when the enters-the-battlefield ability goes on the stack. One makes a Pest token with a death-linked point of life gain for grinding board stalls; one trades a life for a card when the hand runs dry; one exiles a graveyard to shut off recursion and reanimation before it turns on. Because you choose as the ability is put on the stack, you already know what the board looks like when the creature lands, which is the whole appeal: you are picking the answer that the current game state calls for rather than the one you guessed at when you built the deck. That graveyard-exile mode is what pulls this out of the generic value-creature bin, because it welds a piece of targeted disruption onto a three-drop that would otherwise just refill your hand or your board. The Warlock designs of this stretch leaned into exactly this template: undersized statlines whose real job is a flexible modal effect. The power here is not raw rate; it is the near-certainty that whichever black deck runs it and whichever opponent it faces, one of the three lines is relevant, so the card almost never draws dead.
