The premise inverts the usual cost of hand attack. Most discard either strips one card surgically or asks both players to suffer symmetrically; this aims at any number of target players and asks nothing of your own grip, while the count deleted tracks whichever permanent on your side carries the largest mana value. Ramp into a seven-drop and that number empties hands wholesale. The build-around tension is real and self-correcting: with only lands on the table the largest thing you control reads as zero, so the spell whiffs and discards nothing. It rewards a developed board rather than a topdeck. The card belongs to an early-era line of black designs built around big permanents and graveyard mass, where the payoff for going large was a discrete, measurable effect rather than raw stats. The natural partner is a fattie or a high-cost enchantment already resolved, turning a board that looks merely committed into one that also functions as a guillotine for the opponent's hand. Held until the position is right, against a control deck or a hand full of held answers and combo pieces, emptying every rival's grip at once is exactly the swing the rate was priced to deliver.
