Bucknard's Everfull Purse

Artifact2 generic mana

The design descends directly from a first-edition D&D magic item, and it wears that lineage on its face: a self-passing artifact that mints wealth for whoever holds it, then walks around the table. Every activation is a wager on tempo against generosity. You pay the mana, roll a d4, and pocket somewhere between one and four Treasure, an average of two and a half tokens for a single mana; then the purse slides to the player on your right and taps out of your reach until it comes back around. That handoff carries the entire design load. A colorless rock that made Treasure without a cost would be a runaway ramp engine; making it a shared object turns the payoff into a table-wide ritual, where the tax you pay is watching the person who least needs help draw four Treasure off your setup. It thrives on the social physics of a crowded table, where the joy is in the roll and the groan is in the pass, and where the question of who ends the game holding the purse is never quite settled. Strip the table down to two players and the pass stops being a formality: handing it to your only opponent lets them untap, generate their own one-to-four Treasure, and ramp toward whatever ends the game before it loops back to you. Its home is the full table, not the two-player ramp shell.
