Brushstrider

Creature — Beast1 generic manaGreen mana

Vigilance on a green two-drop is an odd marriage, because green almost never struggles to attack; what it wants from a keyword is reach against fliers or trample through chump blockers, not permission to swing and still hold a blocker back. The 3/1 body gives the game away: this was built to push damage first, with a stat line that hits hard and dies to almost anything. The vigilance is there to let it pressure a planeswalker or punch in for three while still threatening to trade with the attack coming back. That tension between a fragile glass-cannon body and a defensive keyword is the whole identity. A 3/1 that can also block reads like a strictly better deal, but the single toughness means the defensive half is conditional at best, useful only against the smallest attackers. What the keyword actually buys is tempo flexibility in the early turns of a curve-out aggressive deck, the kind that fills its two-slot with bodies that exist to deal damage and rarely need to play defense at all. This is filler in the honest sense: a clean, on-rate beater for green decks that want to keep attacking, carrying a keyword that scans better on the card than it ever performs across the table.
