Eldrazi Spawn were designed as disposable ramp tokens: a 0/1 with a single use, sacrifice it for one colorless mana and move on. Their stat line is the point, because a body that small is supposed to be spent, not fielded. This card inverts that assumption. By handing every Spawn +2/+1, it turns the chaff into a board of 2/2 attackers, repricing tokens whose whole identity was that they were worth nothing in combat. The wrinkle is in the timing of the choice it forces: each Spawn you keep on the table is mana you did not pay forward into your ramp curve, so the anthem only pays off if you stop cashing in the tokens and start swinging with them. That tension is the design idea. The Eldrazi shell wants Spawn as fuel for enormous threats; this asks you to leave the fuel in the tank and win with the engine parts instead. The 4/4 body for five is unremarkable on its own, a plain green beater, but it is built to be the payoff sitting behind a sea of generated tokens rather than a standalone threat. It is the rare anthem keyed to a creature type that was never meant to attack, and it only matters in a deck committed to flooding the board with the very tokens its core strategy wants to consume.
