Encore is the reason this repeats itself into a finisher rather than sitting as a slow attrition body. The attack trigger shrinks something an opponent controls by -1/-1, useful but hardly a five-mana headline on its own; the payoff is what the card does from the graveyard. In a multiplayer game, encore mints a hasty token copy for each opponent, each one pointed at that opponent, and every one of those copies carries the attack trigger with it. Against three opponents that is three bodies swinging and three -1/-1 pings you distribute around the table, all in a single turn, before the tokens sacrifice themselves at end of turn. The sorcery-speed clock and the graveyard exile are the two brakes: you get the multiplied swing once, on your own turn, and then the card is gone. That structure is what separates encore from a straight reanimation payoff. Where recursion-from-the-yard creatures like Gravecrawler and Bloodghast return the same body over and over, this one scales its output to the size of the pod: more opponents means more copies, more triggers, and more damage funneled outward in a single turn. It is a modest creature built to have a loud second life, the kind of design that only makes sense in a format where "for each opponent" is a real multiplier rather than a single extra body.
