Borderland Marauder

Creature — Human Warrior1 generic manaRed mana

The whole trick is asymmetry along the power axis. A 1/2 sits behind exactly the curve points an aggressive red deck wants to trade with: it blocks the X/1s and survives the ping, then swings as a 3/2 the moment you tap it. The attack trigger inflates power and leaves toughness untouched, so the creature you attack with reads 3/2 while the creature you might block with stays a 1/2. That split (small on defense, real on offense) is the cleanest way to give a two-drop reach without handing aggro a body that also dominates the ground when it has to hold the line. It follows the long line of red attack-triggered pumpers, where the reward for committing to the red zone lives in the swing rather than the rate. Nothing here is loud, but the math is honest: the extra power exists on the offensive turn only, and on the back swing you are still left with a one-power body that cannot trade up. That defensive version is deliberately unimpressive, which is what keeps the creature pointed forward: sitting back to grind gives up the entire reason to run it.
