Bone Flute

A repeatable, board-wide power debuff sold as a defensive engine: pay two and tap to shrink every attacker by a point, then untap and do it again next turn. The design logic is the tap in the activation cost, which is also the leash. Because the ability requires tapping, it fires exactly once per turn cycle, so the -1/-0 it hands out is genuinely small: a single point of power off the whole board, no more, until it untaps. That makes it a friction tool aimed at the era's go-wide aggression. It cannot kill anything outright; it only nudges the math of an alpha strike, trimming the damage a swarm pushes through and pulling a few attackers below the toughness of their blockers. The power-only reduction is what keeps it fair. It never touches toughness, so it never trades for a creature, never two-for-ones, never threatens the board on its own; it only buys a sliver of time per turn, and only if you can spare the mana every turn to keep buying it. It comes from an era of colorless artifacts that let any deck rent a defensive lever regardless of color, the same impulse that later produced cleaner all-around answers. Bone Flute reads as a snapshot of a moment when "tap an artifact to shave everyone's power" was a complete card on its own, before power-level expectations made a slow, mana-hungry, non-lethal, once-per-turn debuff look like the soft answer it always was.
