Bone Devourer

Creature — Dragon3 generic manaBlack mana

A death payoff that also asks you to die: the counter total is set by how many creatures hit the graveyard before it enters, and then that same number becomes the card draw you cash out when it dies. Flash and flying make the front half opportunistic. Hold it up as a combat trick, ambush an attacker, and land it after a chunk of the board has already traded, and the body arrives sized to the carnage. The back half is where the design gets pointed: those counters are stored value that only pays out on death, and the draw comes stapled to an equal life loss. It is a battlefield presence that would rather be sacrificed than survive, which flips the usual instinct to protect your creatures. In a deck built around fodder and repeatable death triggers, this becomes a refuel button whose size scales with how much slaughter you can manufacture in a single turn, then a sacrifice outlet turns the stored counters into a hand of cards. The friction is that the same aristocrat shell feeding it counters is the shell most likely to punish the life payment, so the draw wants a healthy cushion or a lifegain floor to lean on. Left to fend for itself it is a modest evasive body; the reward lives entirely in choreographing the deaths around it.
