Blood Host

Creature — Vampire3 generic manaBlack manaBlack mana

Repeatable life-and-growth at the cost of a body each time: feed it another creature, pay a mana and a black, and it stacks a permanent +1/+1 counter while padding your life total by two. The sacrifice clause is what pays for an effect that would be absurd as a free trigger, and it ties the card to a particular kind of board state, one where you have spare creatures arriving each turn (tokens, dorks, anything you would happily trade up into a growing threat). On the 3/3 frame, the engine starts modest and snowballs, but the rate per activation is deliberately slow: one counter and two life is not a swing, it is an accrual. That patience is the design tension. As a Vampire it leans toward the tribe's appetite for sacrifice and lifegain, and it reads as a mid-power aristocrats payoff rather than a finisher: a sink for the chaff your sacrifice engine generates, converting a wide board into a single large lifegain-adjacent body over several turns. The card is for the deck that already wants to sacrifice creatures and is looking for a place to put the value, not for the deck hoping a 3/3 will do the closing work by itself.
