Blood Glutton
A 4/3 with lifelink for five mana is the kind of vanilla-plus common that fills out a black creature curve without asking anything in return. The design carries no death trigger, no evasion, no sacrifice payoff: the lifelink is not attached to a rate or an engine that would leverage it, only to a body large enough to trade up and gain a few points doing it. That makes the card a pure combat piece. It wants to attack into open ground or block when the math favors it, banking incidental life against the swing back. The Vampire type line is decoration here rather than a synergy hook; nothing about the card leans on tribal support, and the life gain never compounds into more than a cushion. It is a curve-filler in the honest sense, built to give a slow black deck a creature that both applies pressure and buys time, without pretending to be anything more.
