The Rebel tutor chain was one of the era's quietest engines: a creature that fetches another Rebel straight onto the battlefield, which in turn can fetch the next link up the curve. Most of those tutors lived in white, where Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero anchored the line. Here is the black-aligned counterpart to that toolbox, and the color shift changes both what the engine produces and what it costs the table. The tap ability makes a target player lose one life, which is loss of life rather than damage (it ignores prevention and damage triggers entirely) and returns nothing to its controller, so the body doubles as a slow attrition clock that ticks without committing to combat. The search restricts to Rebel permanents at mana value three or less, which keeps the chain honest: you assemble a sequence of cheap Rebels rather than tutoring up a finisher, and the four-generic activation means each link costs real tempo. The reason this design exists is the cross-color experiment. Rebuilding a white archetype's keystone in black tests how a tribe's mechanical identity holds up off its home color, trading white's lifegain and defensive bodies for a recurring point of life loss aimed at an opponent. The 1/1 body is fragile and the activation is slow, but the question it poses (whether a search-and-curve engine reads the same way in a different color) is the whole point.
