Blessed Reversal
A lifegain spell that scales off the opponent's aggression, which is a tidy bit of design logic: the more committed the attack, the bigger the swing back. That math reads dramatic on paper (a full board of attackers can return a stack of life in one instant-speed beat), but the scaling clause is also the card's leash. The reward is entirely in the attacker's hands. Most reactive lifegain at least lets you bank a fixed number whenever you cast it; this one returns nothing unless creatures are already pointed at your face, and the size of the payoff is dictated by how many an opponent chooses to commit. A careful aggressor who senses the trick simply attacks with less, or holds back, and leaves the spell sitting on a number it cannot raise on its own. The result is a fog-adjacent effect that buys a turn against a wide assault without stopping any single creature, a deliberately gentler tool than a sweeper or a true combat fog. It belongs to the simplified Portal pool, where cards were stripped down to a single legible clause for newcomers, which explains the clean construction and the absence of any cleverness beyond the central effect: gain life, scaled to attackers, on resolution. A card whose ceiling is set by what the other player decides to do, and whose floor is zero.
