Blackbloom Rogue // Blackbloom Bog

Creature — Human Rogue // Land

A 2/3 with menace for three mana is a body that dies to anything and does nothing memorable: the point of this front face is that you almost never wish you had drawn it as a creature. The two-sided sheet lets Blackbloom Bog cover for it, a tapped black source you play early when your hand needs mana, so a copy drawn later can arrive as the Rogue once the land side has become a luxury rather than a tax. That sequencing is what the graveyard clause pays off. The +3/+0 it gains once an opponent has eight or more cards in their graveyard is upside layered precisely onto the games where a small beater would otherwise strand: the grindy, cycling, self-discard, trade-everything matchups that fill a graveyard are the same ones where a three-drop trades down and stalls the board. In those spots it lands as a 5/3 with menace at the moment the board most needs a threat that demands two blockers to stop. In the empty-graveyard race, where the bonus never comes online, you were happiest to have played the land face turns ago and never missed the creature. The design reframes the old land-versus-spell tension into a question of how many cards in a deck can pull double duty, so you are never stranded holding the half you did not need.
