The pinger frame is the recognizable part: tap, feed it an artifact, ping something for one. But the payload is not the damage, it is the goad rider that comes stapled to every activation. A single point of damage rarely swings a board; forcing that creature to attack someone else next combat rewrites the turn cycle for a whole pod. What balances the trick is the artifact tax: each activation eats a permanent, so the engine only hums in a deck built to manufacture cheap Treasure, Clue, or Food tokens faster than it spends them.
