The body becomes difficult to kill through damage or destruction, and the colorless mana the Scions provide feeds the Eldrazi ramp shell this drone was built to sit inside, where colorless is a resource and not just a flavor of generic. Devoid is doing the framing work here: a green-cast creature that produces no green, only the placeless colorless mana that the larger Eldrazi project runs on. The card is less a finisher than a midgame engine that converts a single deployment into a sticky threat, two mana rocks on legs, and a built-in answer to spot removal, all from one card.
