Beseech the Queen

Sorcery2 generic or Black mana2 generic or Black mana2 generic or Black mana

Six mana value on the rules layer; three black mana at the register. That split is the engineering trick this tutor is built around. Counterspells keyed to converted cost, cost-increasers, and anything that punishes a card by its printed value all read this as a six-drop, while the player casting it pays for a three-drop. The gap between the number the rules track and the number the wallet sees is the reason the card was designed this way at all. The land-count clause is the counterweight: early, you are tutoring for two- and three-drops; only as your lands accumulate does the toolbox stretch to your real payoffs. The result scales with the game rather than ending it on turn three. Demonic Tutor and Vampiric Tutor fetch anything for a pittance and ask nothing in return; this one asks you to have built a board first, and pays you in flexibility for the patience. It sits in the long lineage of black "search your library" effects, but it is the one that solved the cost problem sideways, using the hybrid frame to be cheap in practice while staying expensive in the eyes of everything trying to tax it.
