Behold the Power of Destruction

Scheme

One-sided board wipes are usually a design non-starter: the whole tension of a sweeper is that it hits you too, and removing that cost is how you turn a card that balances a game into one that ends it. The scheme format is where that cost can safely disappear, because the archenemy is supposed to be terrifying and the multiplayer table is already rebuilding the odds. Setting this in motion strips a single opponent of every nonland permanent, leaving their board bare while the rest of the table (and everything the archenemy controls) stays intact. That surgical single-target framing is what makes it nastier than a symmetrical Wrath effect: instead of resetting the game, it picks one player and buries them, then the archenemy presses on with a full board against a diminished field. The design leans into the villain fantasy that schemes exist to deliver: not incremental advantage but a decisive, humiliating swing that the players are meant to survive rather than answer in kind. It is a sweeper reimagined as a threat, its power drawn entirely from the asymmetry the format grants it.
