The haste is not for attacking; it is for tapping. A normal accelerant lands with summoning sickness and sits inert the turn it arrives, so its mana ability only comes online a turn later. Haste closes that gap: cast this on turn two and it taps for mana that same turn, giving you an immediate one-mana rebate to spend on a creature. It does not ramp a full turn ahead of a vanilla dork (by turn three the totals even out); what it buys is tempo on the turn it enters, a cheaper creature deployed early when that early board presence matters most. The restriction is what shapes the rest. The mana arrives in any color but only ever goes toward a creature spell, which walls it off from rituals, noncreature ramp, and combo plumbing and pins it to lists built mostly out of bodies. That narrowing is the point: a creature-dense green deck can splash an off-color threat and cast it on curve without warping the manabase, because the fixing shows up exactly where and when a board-flooding shell wants it. The body is fragile and mostly beside the point once the ability is active; it is a removal magnet, not a clock. What two mana buys is color-fixing and a tempo discount stapled to the same permanent, suited to go-wide and tribal shells where every creature is expected to do more than its stats suggest.
