Beast Mode
Most pump spells price their upside into the mana cost; this one prices it into your board state. The base mode is a stock two-mana combat trick, +2/+2 and trample, the kind of instant that trades up in combat or pushes a swing lethal. Teamwork is the lever: tapping creatures with total power 1 or more (any single untapped body with at least 1 power satisfies it) converts the temporary buff into lasting growth on the target. The design tension is that the creatures you tap to power the spell are creatures you are pulling out of the combat you're trying to win, so the durable bonus is paid for in tempo rather than cards or mana. That makes Beast Mode read differently depending on when you cast it: on a stalled board with idle attackers, teamwork costs almost nothing and the extra size is pure profit; in a race where every body needs to be attacking or blocking, the tap requirement bites and you take the trick without the bonus. The mechanic externalizes a choice that most tricks resolve at deckbuilding time, letting the card scale with a wide board without needing a floor of raw stats printed on it. It rewards a battlefield that has already committed bodies it can spare, which is a very different ask than the go-wide token strategies that usually reach for cheap green pumps.
