Bastion Protector

An anthem with an audience of one (or two, if you're running a Partner pair): the only creatures it cares about are the ones that started in the command zone. That keying-off-the-commander-designation rather than a color, a name, or a subtype is the clever construction here, because it hands its protection to whatever you've chosen to build around and asks nothing else of the board. The +2/+2 isn't filler. It tightens the commander-damage clock, dragging the 21-point threshold a swing closer, while the indestructible rider blanks the format's busiest removal: board wipes, fight spells, and the destroy-target-creature staples that otherwise tax you back to the command zone again and again. What the static buff does not do is the part people misremember it for. Indestructible is silent against exile, bounce, sacrifice effects, and minus-toughness removal, so the shield it raises is genuine but full of seams, not the total lockdown its reputation suggests. The honest read is a redundancy piece in a Voltron shell: a 3/3 body whose entire purpose is making the one creature that matters harder to kill the cheap way and more lethal when it connects. It slots into any white-touching deck willing to attack with its commander, which is most of them, and earns its place precisely because the protection it offers is narrow, conditional, and aimed at the single permanent the rest of the deck is built to defend.
