Basilica Bell-Haunt
The double-pip cost is the whole design brief here: is a mana requirement stiff enough to gatekeep this out of splashy multicolor shells and reserve it for decks genuinely committed to Orzhov, and everything the body delivers is calibrated to reward that commitment. A 3/4 blocks nearly everything the aggressive decks it hates want to attack with, the three life buys back a chunk of the clock, and the discard strips a card from an opponent already low on gas. What makes the effect resilient is that the discard is not targeted at a spell on the stack or a permanent on the battlefield: it fires on entry regardless of what the opponent holds, so it lands against control hoarding answers and against a topdecking aggro deck alike. That combination of lifegain, hand disruption, and a stubborn defensive body in a single midrange creature is unusually well-rounded for four mana, and the color-hungry cost is exactly the price paid for stacking three relevant effects onto one card. It is a hoser built as a fair creature: no keyword, no combo enabler, just a Spirit that taxes the two things aggressive and combo-adjacent decks care most about, tempo and reach, at the moment it hits the table.
