Barren Moor

Land

The flooded hand is the oldest tax in the game: you draw your fifteenth land and it does nothing while your opponent draws spells. Cycling lands settle that account by giving the land a discard mode, so that the same card that fixed your early curve becomes something better once the board is set and the black mana is surplus. The price is paid in tempo, always up front: it enters tapped and produces nothing the turn it arrives, which is the slowness you accept for a mana source that is never stranded. Pay one black, pitch the dead land from your hand, and draw a fresh card in its place. As the black member of a one-per-color cycle, it taps for a single black or digs deeper when you are flooding, and that dual mode is its whole job. Note that it carries no Swamp subtype: it does not feed type-matters effects and cannot be found by a Swamp fetch, so its identity is exactly the tap-for-black-or-cycle split, nothing more. The quieter dividend is graveyard relevance. Cycling sends the land itself to the bin, so the same act that smooths your draw also stocks the yard for delve, threshold, and other graveyard-count payoffs. A land that fixes mana, smooths flood, and feeds the graveyard is doing three small jobs the plain mana ability never advertises, and it does them for the cost of one black and one wasted untap.
