Azusa, Lost but Seeking

Legendary Creature — Human Monk2 generic manaGreen mana

The land drop is one of the oldest invisible rules in the game: one per turn, no upkeep, no announcement. This breaks it, tripling the ceiling from one land per turn to three, and that single quiet permission reshapes how a green deck spends its mana. Land-fueled engines change character entirely when extra drops are on the table: a single land that bounces back to hand becomes a repeatable trigger, landfall payoffs fire multiple times per turn, and a hand clogged with lands turns from a flood into a plan. The fragile 1/2 frame is almost an apology for being a creature at all; the static line is the whole point, which makes this a permanent enabler rather than a one-shot ramp spell. That permanence is also the vulnerability that pays for the effect: the ramp is bolted to a creature that dies to almost anything, and the extra drops vanish the moment she leaves play. Against the burst of a single big ramp spell, this offers something steadier and more dangerous over time, a compounding land advantage that widens the longer she survives. The design has aged into a cornerstone of the lands-matter philosophy, the kind of effect later cards would echo and expand, but this early-era framing remains the cleanest statement of the idea: stop counting your lands one at a time.
