Card advantage normally costs mana; this one converts dead cards in hand into a refill that scales off your board. The trade is structural: pitch something you no longer need at the start of combat, name a creature, and if it connects with the opponent you replace one card with two. The clause that makes it interesting is the separation between who discards and who cashes in. It says "choose a creature," not "this creature," so the payoff rides whichever attacker is most likely to land combat damage: a hard-to-block evasive threat, a menace body the 3/3 itself does not have, or a hexproof creature you would rather not risk the trigger on. That decoupling means the Azra never has to swing in to fund the draw. The discard side also points at a particular kind of build: one with reanimation targets, flashback spells, or madness payoffs that want cards in the graveyard anyway, so the cost is often no cost at all. This is a body that rewards a committed offensive board rather than a defensive one, and the tension is that everything hinges on combat damage reaching a player: a chump block, a fog, or a removal spell held for the beginning-of-combat trigger wastes the exchange entirely. Connect once, though, and the math compounds fast, since two cards a turn on a repeatable trigger outruns most fair decks' capacity to answer it.
