Azorius Charm

InstantWhite manaBlue mana

The third mode is the one that earns the card its keep. Putting an attacker or blocker on top of its owner's library is a tempo move dressed as removal: it costs the opponent their next draw and forces them to spend mana recasting the creature, all without exiling or killing anything. The catch is the window. It only fires during combat and only on a creature that is attacking or blocking, so it cannot answer a problem permanent waiting to go off or a creature idling outside of combat. That restriction is what keeps a two-mana instant from being a clean kill spell, and it pushes the card toward decks that want to trade combat math for tempo rather than maintain a board. The other two modes round out a control toolkit: a stabilizing lifelink swing when you are racing, and a flat cantrip when neither situation applies and you would rather not waste the card. Charms in this Ravnica cycle were built to do this exact thing, stapling three guild-flavored effects onto one cheap instant so the card is rarely dead and rarely exciting, and this one leans hardest into the blue-white instinct to delay, draw, and answer on your terms.
