Scaling land destruction by X is a sound template; the trouble is what it can legally point at. Snow lands were Ice Age's experiment in giving lands a subtype, and this was built to police that ecosystem from the punitive side: a deterrent that kept the snow-matters cards of the era from running wild in a mirror or near-mirror. Against an opponent on ordinary basics and duals, there is simply no legal target, which makes the card a sorcery you cannot cast for value at all. Its ceiling is entirely contingent on the other player having voluntarily committed to a niche supplemental category, which is the opposite of how reliable removal is supposed to work. When Wizards revived snow decades later, they reoriented the subtype as a resource to count and convert rather than a vulnerability to attack, and they left this hostile read of snow behind. What survives is a fossil of the first, more adversarial answer to the question of what snow was for: a destruction engine welded to a restriction so specific that the format had to cooperate before the card could function.
