Autumn's Veil

Protection against an entire half of the color pie, sold for one green mana at instant speed. The construction is unusual: most green answers to interaction are reactive bodies or hexproof grants stapled to creatures, but this is a pure shield spell that addresses both axes blue and black use to disrupt you. It stops the counterspell on the stack and it stops the removal aimed at your board, all in one window. That dual scope is what makes it more than a narrow one-note answer. A green ramp or combo deck that lives in fear of getting its key spell answered can hold one mana up and walk a haymaker through a wall of blue permission, or push an attacker past a black point-removal spell, in the same beat. The catch is the precision of its hatred: it does nothing against red, white, or green interaction, and nothing against colorless answers, so it is a scalpel rather than a blanket. It also lasts only the turn, so the protection has to be bought at the exact moment it matters, not banked. As a piece of design it represents green's narrow lane in the color-pie debate over who gets to say no: green rarely gets to counter or deny, but it is allowed to refuse to be told no by the colors that traditionally do.
