Austere Command
Most sweepers are a single question with a single answer; this one hands you four blades and asks which two the board in front of you needs. The split-by-mana-value clauses are the structural innovation. A control deck holding a single expensive threat can wipe the cheap creatures away while its own bomb survives, then flip the same card around another game to clear the fatties and spare its mana dorks. Pair the two creature halves and it functions as a flat Wrath of God; pair artifacts and enchantments and it becomes a noncreature reset that ordinary creature sweepers cannot reach. That flexibility is paid for honestly with a six-mana, double-white commitment at sorcery speed: you are spending a full turn and reading the board correctly, and a misread on which mana-value bracket to hit can cost you the game. What makes the modal-choose-two template durable is that it never asks you to guess at deckbuilding time which sweeper you'll want; it asks you to know the board when you cast it. The cost of total flexibility is total responsibility for the choice, and that trade has kept this among white's most reliable answers across eras of stronger and cheaper sweepers, because the right two modes are almost always available even when no single fixed effect would do.
