Auriok Steelshaper

Creature — Human Soldier1 generic manaWhite mana

Two jobs in one body, and the discount is the more underrated of the two. Cheaper equip costs read as marginal until you build an equipment deck whose turn-by-turn arithmetic is suspended swords and re-equips after a sweeper: every point shaved off equip is another piece of armor that fits under the curve. The anthem half is the obvious draw, a static lord for Soldiers and Knights, but it carries a deliberate fragility: the buff is conditional on this creature itself being equipped, so the Steelshaper has to suit up before it pays out. That couples the two abilities neatly. You discount the equip cost that switches the lord on, and the lord pays you back for keeping the gear attached instead of chasing the next target. The 1/1 frame is the price: it dies to everything, and removing it both ends the tribal anthem and snaps the discount, so opponents get a clean answer that does double duty. As a tribal payoff it sits in the lineage of early equipment-matters design, where the soldier functions more as a delivery system for the steel it carries than as a threat on its own. The deck it wants treats equipment as a recurring resource, gear that moves and re-attaches across a game, and the payoff only arrives once you have committed to playing that way.
