Auriok Glaivemaster
Stack it with any piece of equipment and a naked 1/1 becomes a 2/2 first striker, which in the Equipment-saturated block this came from was a meaningful return on a single white mana. The design is a Soldier built to want a sword in its hand: the bonus is contingent, not innate, so the card reads as filler in a vacuum and as a real beater the moment it picks up so much as a Bonesplitter or a Leonin Scimitar. First strike is the load-bearing half of that contingency, since it lets an equipped Glaivemaster trade up against bigger attackers and survive blocks it has no business surviving. The flavor logic is tidy too: the glaive is the point, and the master is nothing without it. As a piece of constructed work it never amounted to much beyond the artifact-block aggro shells it was printed to feed, but it captures cleanly what white weenie wanted from its one-drops in an Equipment metagame: a cheap, conditional body whose payoff scales with the swords you already wanted to run.
