Aura Extraction

Instant1 generic manaWhite mana

Bouncing an enchantment to the top of its owner's library is meaner than a clean bounce: it costs the opponent their next draw and forces them to spend mana recommitting, which stings against anything they paid heavily to resolve. But enchantment removal is the textbook dead card, the answer that does nothing in any game where the opponent runs no enchantments. Cycling is the contract that makes carrying it tolerable. Pay two, discard, and a card that would otherwise rot in hand becomes a fresh draw. That trade explains why this design shape exists at all: it lets a narrow answer earn a maindeck slot, because the floor (a replacement card) is fixed and the ceiling (denying a key enchantment both a turn and a draw) occasionally clears it by a wide margin. This was a hallmark of the era that stapled cycling onto so many situational spells, where the goal was to reward keeping an answer that whiffs in some matchups by guaranteeing it never sits idle. The choice it offers is small but real: hold it as targeted removal when the right enchantment hits the board, or convert it to a slightly expensive cantrip when no target appears. Neither line is exciting, and the card never pretended otherwise; its value is structural, a hedge against variance rather than a play you build around.
