Assembly-Worker

Artifact Creature — Assembly-Worker3 generic mana

The joke is the type line, and the type line is the joke. This pumps Assembly-Workers, a creature type that for most of its existence consisted almost entirely of cards never meant to share a battlefield, scattered across artifact sets years apart. The ability points at a tribe that barely exists, which makes the card a kind of mechanical orphan: a lord with no subjects. That recursion (a creature whose only function is to buff its own near-empty kind) is precisely the design conceit. The payoff is the gag rather than the synergy, the tribe being far too sparse to ever assemble into a working deck. Strip the type away and you have a 2/2 artifact body for three with a slow tap-pump, the sort of vanilla-adjacent filler that needs a hook to justify existing. The hook here is that the hook circles back on itself. The pump carries no timing restriction, so the one player chasing the most literal possible build can hold it up at instant speed and let a board of Assembly-Workers trade tiny, mutual encouragement in the middle of combat. It is a design that exists mostly to be noticed, a punchline in artifact-creature form, and that self-aware smallness is the whole identity.
