Armadillo Cloak

Enchantment — Aura1 generic manaGreen manaWhite mana

Auras carry a structural liability: a single removal spell answers both the enchantment and the creature it sits on, so any Aura worth running has to pay back more than its mana the turn it resolves. This one does it by stapling lifegain to combat itself. The trample matters more than the +2/+2 here, because the lifegain triggers on all damage the enchanted creature deals, and trample guarantees a chunk of that damage reaches a face rather than being eaten by a chump blocker. The result is a swing larger than the stat boost suggests: every attack pads your life total by the full damage dealt, blocked or not, which turns a race into a grind your opponent cannot win on tempo alone. The lifegain also reads off any source of damage the creature deals, so a fight effect or a deathtouch trade feeds it too, not just attacks. The Gold-mana Invasion design ethos was about gluing two colors' instincts together in a single card, and this is white's resilience plus green's combat math doing exactly that. The cost of all this generosity is the Aura's brittleness; you are committing two cards' worth of value to one creature, and the payoff only arrives if that creature survives long enough to connect. When it connects, though, the math runs away fast.
