A green wall that the war machines simply cannot burn down. The set it debuted in was built around Mishra, Urza, and an arms race of artifacts, and this is the design that answered that thesis with a creature whose entire reason for existing is the card type it shares a pack with. The prevention clause is absolute against artifact sources: no Triskelion ping, no Rocket Launcher shot, no combat damage from an artifact creature gets through. The 3/5 body sits comfortably above the artifact-creature curve of its era, so it blocks the machines indefinitely without ever dying in combat. What makes the design notable is how narrow and how total it is in the same breath: against the artifact axis it is functionally unkillable by damage, while against anything else it is an ordinary midrange wall. The key discipline is that the prevention is scoped to damage and nothing more. It does not grant protection, so an artifact source that destroys, exiles, or taps rather than burns walks right through it: Nevinyrral's Disk wraths it, Icy Manipulator locks it down, and a deck leaning on those effects answers the wall on its own terms. Later sets would generalize this kind of asymmetric defense into the protection-from-artifacts keyword and the broader stax and prison toolkits, but this version commits to a single verb, and that single verb tells you exactly what war it was built to fight.
