Archwing Dragon

Creature — Dragon2 generic manaRed manaRed mana

The bounce clause is the whole trade: a 4/4 flyer with haste for four mana is a perfectly priced attacker, but returning it to your hand at every end step means it never holds the ground, never blocks, and never sits on the board as a target. The design pays for a free four-power evasive hit by refusing to let the creature stay. That recast tax is steeper than the rate suggests: each turn you want the damage, you re-spend all four mana, so the dragon competes with everything else you would rather be casting. What the return really buys is immunity to sorcery-speed removal: because the creature leaves play at the beginning of your end step, it is back in your hand before the opponent's turn begins, well out of reach of a Day of Judgment or any other answer cast on their main phase. The exposure is narrower than usual but it is real. During your own turn, in the window after it resolves and before it returns, an instant such as Doom Blade kills it cleanly, and that is the only line an opponent reliably gets. The built-in return also means it arrives fresh and swinging again each time rather than asking you to supply your own bounce or flicker. Played straight, it is a recurring beater that treats board presence as optional and tempo as the only resource that counts.
