Creature — Halfling Cleric1 generic manaWhite mana

Fetch effects have always sat in a strange spot: opponents pay life to smooth their own draws, and the tax lands entirely on them until someone builds a way to charge rent. This is that rent, priced to fade into the background. Flash does the heavy lifting: it holds up as an open-mana bluff, ambushes a fetchland crack or a tutor mid-turn, and lets you commit only once an opponent tips their hand. The trigger keys on the search itself, not the fetch, so every Demonic Tutor, every landfall-adjacent grab, every basic-land scavenge pays you off with a life and a card. It punishes exactly the decks that traffic in library manipulation and does nothing to a pure top-of-deck aggro shell, which is the balancing act: a hoser that reads as an unremarkable 2/2 until the table fills up with tutors and fetches, at which point it quietly buries the opponents feeding it. Punisher-for-searching effects came before it, but most were narrower or slower; folding the reward into a flash body with a real 2/2 attached is the refinement that made this version stick.
