Repeatable burn that never empties the way a fistful of actual cards does: that is the engine, and the activation cost is the brake. Three mana, the tap, and a discard buys you only two damage divided however you like across one or two targets, a steep rate per shot that is precisely what keeps an otherwise relentless removal source from running away. The split is the payoff. Plenty of one-shot burn already divides damage (Twin Bolt and the like do exactly this for a fraction of the cost), but those answers leave your hand for good; the appeal here is that the same flexible two-point split comes back every turn, for as long as you can pay it. And the pitch cost flips from tax to asset depending on what you feed it: cards that want to be in the graveyard anyway, or excess lands when you flood out, convert into damage instead of nothing. This is the Spellshaper idea compressed into one body, a class built on the premise that a creature could behave like a recurring spell if you were willing to spend resources you might not have wanted to part with. The 2/2 itself is incidental, a host for the ability rather than a clock; the design lives entirely in the friction of paying for each shot against the promise that the well does not empty.
