Most fogs answer an alpha strike by erasing it; this one answers it by feeding off it. The combat-damage prevention is the survival half, the part that keeps you alive through a wide swing, but the tokens are the singular idea: every creature pointed at you becomes another 1/2 Spider with reach on your side of the board. The math scales directly with the size of the attack, so the bigger the gamble against you, the larger the army you wake up with the morning after. That inversion is the whole design tension. A player choosing to commit everything into one opponent is the exact condition that punishes them hardest, and because the prevention spares only Spiders, your fresh swarm is free to block and trade while nothing they have lands a hit. The reach matters too: it leaves the wall standing against the flyers most multiplayer boards eventually field. Where a conventional fog buys a single turn and leaves you no further ahead, this converts an existential moment into a permanent board presence, turning it from a defensive trick into a one-card reversal of a creature race. The cost is that it does nothing proactive; it is a button you hold until someone forces the issue, and its value is entirely a function of how badly they overcommit when they do.
