Aquatic Incursion
Two payoffs a Merfolk swarm wants, bundled into one card that never touches a combat number yet decides how many of them connect. The hexproof on the tokens is the quieter half of the design and the more particular one: bodies that cannot be the targets of an opponent's spells or abilities shrug off the surgical answers a go-wide deck fears most, the single-target removal aimed at the best attacker. That protection is precise about its scope, though. It does nothing against a sweeper, and nothing against an edict, since edicts target the player and force a sacrifice rather than pointing at a creature. Against those, the value is inverse: two disposable 1/1s make excellent fodder to feed the edict and keep the real threats alive. The unblockable activation is the engine half, a mana sink that scales into the late game and lets a stalled board push damage through a clogged ground. Notice its restriction: it only names a Merfolk, so the reach is welded to the tribe rather than handed out as generic evasion, and that tribal gate is what keeps it from being a colorless finisher and roots it in the small-creature blue tempo shell it was built to feed. It does the work of an anthem-adjacent engine without granting a single point of power or toughness; the payoff lives entirely in board presence and reach.
