Draftsim's 8/10 leans on the wrong axis. There is no cast trigger here: the draw happens on your end step, counting card types among the spells you actually cast that turn, so a turn where you do nothing draws nothing. The real floor is a four-mana 1/5 that asks you to keep showing up with diverse turns to justify the slot. In a medium-speed format where the common 2/3s and 3/2s blank against a five-toughness wall, that floor holds: the body buys the time you need to set up the multi-type turns the card is actually built around.

This is a UR Spells pick, P1P4 to P1P6 in those colors and a late hold otherwise. The competing pull comes from GU, which fields the bodies easily but struggles to hit a second non-creature type in a turn often enough to push past the two-card mode. TMT's blue commons skew toward instants and sorceries, so the card-type tax falls on deckbuilding: you have to draft the artifacts and creatures that round out a turn, not just the spells a blue hand sends your way anyway. A creature cast alongside an instant is the realistic two-card mode; three is the good draw, four is a turn you assemble on purpose. Equipment like Bespoke Bō padding the artifact count only helps on the turn you actually hardcast it.

The physics that hurt her are cheap: Stomped by the Foot kills a 1/5 outright, and Dimensional Exile is a clean answer any deck splashes off the utility lands. Maindeck her in any blue deck already drafting a varied curve. Don't take her over removal in those colors, and don't move into blue for her.

The payoff here is type-diversity, not volume, and that narrows the homes more than the effect first suggests. The commanders that actually empty a hand off this end step are the ones already casting across the type chart in a single turn. Kenrith aside, the cleanest fit is a Brago, King Eternal flicker-toolbox or a Raff Capashen, Ship's Mage build that flashes in artifacts and creatures alongside its instants, where an average turn already touches three or four types. Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder also wants it: cascade chains naturally cast spells of mixed types, and April converts that spread into a refilled hand at end of turn. Niv-Mizzet, Parun does not want it, despite living in the same color identity; a Niv turn is mostly instants and sorceries, which means two draws off a four-mana 1/5, and Niv would rather run a card that triggers per spell.

This is a Bracket 2-3 piece, roughly the $3 to $8 range on a first-printing common-to-uncommon rarity. It is too slow and too type-dependent for cEDH, where the draw engines are Rhystic Study, Mystic Remora, or a tutor finding either, and where nobody is casting an artifact and an enchantment off-curve to chase a fourth card. In the optimized casual bracket it competes with Mystic Remora and The Reality Chip for the engine slot; April wins in decks built around its tax and loses badly in lean lists.

The 1/5 matters more than the rate at four-player tables: it holds the ground while the deck assembles its toolbox, and it draws no removal because it threatens nothing. That invisibility is the card's best multiplayer trait. In the wrong shell, the all-instants-and-sorceries blue deck, it is a 1/5 that draws two and should not be in the deck.

A four-mana 1/5 that wants a toolbox of one-of card types, which is a deckbuilding ask Modern's blue decks have no reason to meet. The format's card advantage comes from cheap interaction and tempo, not from casting an artifact, an enchantment, and a creature in one turn to refill an end step. Nothing in Modern is built to pay the card-type tax, and the wall body does nothing on a board the deck would rather be racing. Legal, but yet to register in tracked tournament play, and there is no archetype here asking for it.

Legal in Standard since its March 2026 printing, but yet to register in any tracked tournament deck this season. The gap is structural, not incidental. The trigger asks you to build a turn out of three, four, or five distinct card types, and Standard's blue card-advantage shells run on instants and sorceries almost exclusively: counterspells, removal, draw, the occasional flash threat. That suite tops out at two types per turn, which makes April a four-mana 1/5 that draws you a single card most end steps. To get past that you need to want one-of artifacts and enchantments in the same deck, and the current toolbox shells that lean blue have not been built to spend mana that way.

The body keeps her alive against the aggressive decks that punish do-nothing fours, but a 1/5 that threatens nothing gives a control mirror no reason to respect her, and gives a developed board no clock. The payoff is real; the deck that pays its tax through card-type diversity rather than raw quantity has not shown up in the format yet.

She rotates in the fall 2027 cycle with her parent block, exact date pending Wizards' announcement, which gives her a long runway. Whether anything reaches her in that window depends on a printing that rewards mixing artifacts, enchantments, and a planeswalker into a single blue turn. Nothing on the announced schedule builds that deck, but the clock is long enough that the read is worth revisiting if a card-type-matters payoff lands alongside her.

A four-mana payoff for a blue toolbox deck that wants to cast an artifact, an instant, and a creature in one turn and get paid for the variety. Pioneer does not have a tuned card-type-matters shell that asks for this, and the 1/5 that wins no races has not given control or midrange a reason to start one. Legal, but it has not shown up in tracked tournament play this season. If a diverse-cast deck ever gels here, this is a piece of it; until then it sits in the binder.

A four-mana 1/5 that draws on your end step for each card type among the spells you cast that turn, in a format where Ancestral Recall draws three for one mana and Black Lotus pays for it on turn zero. The trigger fires the turn it lands and counts itself, so casting it plus an instant nets two; matching Ancestral means committing to three types in a single turn. The body pays Force of Will on the way in for a payoff gated behind a whole turn's worth of diverse casting. Vintage's card-advantage slot is closed by the restricted cantrips and the Power, and this is too slow and too conditional to pressure any of it. Legal, but yet to register in tracked tournament play this season. Noise.

A 4-mana 1/5 that draws cards on the end step in proportion to how varied your turn looked. The bar for a four-mana blue card-advantage engine is steep when Brainstorm, Ponder, and Preordain all cost one and demand nothing of your turn's shape. This pays the Force of Will tax in full, dies to nothing useful, and asks you to assemble a multi-type turn before it pays out, which is exactly the kind of glacial engine Legacy has no patience for. The 1/5 blocks but never closes a game, and a four-mana do-nothing in a format that goldfishes on turn one is a liability. Legal, but yet to register in tracked tournament play. Does not clear the bar.
