Angel's Herald

Creature — Human ClericWhite mana

A tutor with a riddle baked into its activation cost: sacrifice a green creature, a white creature, and a blue creature to fetch Empyrial Archangel straight onto the battlefield. The activation is a love letter to Bant, the three-color shard that taught a generation of players to read their creatures as a color spread rather than a curve. Every input is a body you had to develop, and the payoff lives only in those three colors, so the card functions less as a tutor than as a closed loop: it does nothing outside a deck already committed to being green, white, and blue at once. That narrowness is the whole point of the design. Rather than a generic search effect priced for the open formats, this is a build-around keyed to one specific finisher, and it asks you to assemble a precise board state before it pays anything at all. The cost reads like a puzzle whose only solution is the archetype it was printed to celebrate. As a curiosity it endures: a one-drop that says nothing on its own and everything in a shrine to three-color tribalism, the kind of hyper-specific design Wizards rarely commits to a common-feeling Human Cleric body.
