Angelic Overseer

The conditional is the whole engine: a 5/3 flier that becomes effectively unkillable so long as a single Human stands beside it, which on a tribe-dense board is most of the time. The 5/3 body is built to fail when isolated. With only three toughness, the Overseer trades poorly in combat and dies to spot removal the moment your Humans are gone, so the protection is not a static shield but a chain that breaks when the supporting board does: the opponent does not answer the Overseer, they answer the last Human, and the hexproof and indestructible evaporate together. That sequencing pressure is the design discipline that pays for an otherwise absurd grant; you cannot simply jam this and coast, you have to keep the rest of the board alive, which is harder than keeping one Angel alive. It rewards going wide before it rewards going tall, inverting the usual order of a fragile bomb. Sweepers are the exception that proves the rule. Because Wrath of God destroys everything simultaneously, the Overseer still has indestructible at the instant the sweeper resolves and walks away from it even as your last Human dies in the same breath, a quirk of how indestructible reads state at resolution rather than after. What lingers is the inversion of priority it forces: the threat with the keywords is not the target, and recognizing that the Human two cards over is the real removal target is the skill the card quietly tests.
